SAFETY MANAGER 

Description The Kellogg Company has an exciting opportunity for a Safety Manager in our Kansas City, Kansas Bakery. The responsibilities are but are not limited to the following:

Manages all safety programs and program training. Directs the shift safety committee’s activities. Works with the management team to take a pro-active role in identifying and elimination of potential work hazards. Develops and communicates Safety Programs. Keeps up to date on changing Health and Safety legislation and provides counsel to bakery management on needed changes. Serves as a liaison to workers comp carrier and represents the company in claim reviews and legal proceedings
Actively manages the medical treatment for all injured employees. Confers with medical personnel, and work comp insurance carrier regarding treatment plans, diagnosis, prognosis and return to work status. Maintains required inventory of required safety equipment/supplies. Administration of the Transitional Duty Program. Responsible for keeping employees working after an industrial injury with the goal of a quick return to work. Educates employees, medical personnel, and management regarding transitional duty. Administration of State worker’s compensation claims, including processing of all claims, fee bills, authorization of medical services and supplies. Coordinates claim litigation with representatives from Gallagher Bassett, Legal, and Corporate Risk Management. Ensures bakery compliance, including completion of OSHA 200 log, AER reports, and Safety Metrics reports. Maintains employee work comp claim reports, and files. Keeps all safety training records. Recruit, organize and lead shift safety committees. Plan activities, address employee concerns, and direct focus to enhance the safety culture at the Bakery. Oversees/participates in the accident investigation process. Uses computer and various software programs.

Position Requirements Required: BS degree in Health & Safety or related field and 5 years of related experience or High School Diploma or G.E.D. and 08 years of occupational safety management experience. Advanced knowledge of OSHA regulations.

Preferred: Intermediate MS Office Skills Excel, Power Point, and Word.
Must be a self starter and able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
Must be able to handle crisis management professionally, unusual time constraints,
and multiple and changing priorities.
